Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2025

Apprenticeships aren't just for school leavers - in fact, there's no upper age limit which means they can be a game-changer for those looking to reskill or seeking a career change.

This week as we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, it's time to shine a very important spotlight on our apprentices.

This year's theme is 'Skills for Life', a motto which here at Moody's we do truly live by. We encourage all our employees to take up any extra learning opportunities or education. Whether that be a small online course, or an apprenticeship which will shape the rest of their career.

Here at Moody Logistics and Storage, along with our sister companies, MCR and Heathline Commercials, we're proving that apprenticeships open doors to new opportunities at any stage of life.

Apprenticeships here at Moody's are about encouraging our staff to continue learning throughout their career in Logistics with us. Whether that be upskilling in the job role they have, or learning a new trade altogether; it's never too late to start something new- whatever your age!

With a critical shortage of HGV drivers, we had to think on our feet and develop something to allow us to continue to grow and achieve. We introduced a fast-track driver apprenticeship to train the next generation of Class 1 drivers. This apprenticeship allows the drivers to be fully immersed in the company whilst training for their Class 1 licence.

We've had some fantastic success stories from our internal Moody's Driver Apprenticeship scheme. Take Steven Cartwright, who was a former bus driver before joining our apprenticeship. He completed his driver apprenticeship gaining his Class 1 licence in record time.

More recently, Steve Mcletchie also trained for his Class 1 licence through our apprenticeship programme. With previous experience of driving vans, he brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to his apprenticeship.

We value our apprentices and realise the contribution they bring to our company. We're all about continuing to learn no matter what your age of what skill set you currently hold.

To anyone considering an apprenticeship, whatever your background, whatever your age, it's never too late to start something new.
